What's New This Week? - 29th July

This week we have a brand new 30+ page resource to help you get your little ones ready for starting school, plus a mini activity pack all about empathy.

It might be the start of the summer holidays for most, but this year's 4 and 5 year olds will be gearing up for one of the biggest changes in their lives! This age group of kids has recently been stated by teachers as being the most impacted by the pandemic, so we have developed a resource pack to help them prepare for their first day.

We know you can hardly believe the time has come for your little one to start school, and it's important we realise that this is just as much a transition for you as the parent or carer. How to help my child get ready for starting school - we've created this pack to help your child feel calm about their first day. You'll find over 30 mindful and learning based activities, plus feelings trackers, milestone posters to mark the occasion, calming strategies and much more.

Rainbow Breathing Craft - A great new, calming and mindful activity for kids. Rainbow breathing is a popular deep breathing technique for kids where they trace their finger along the rainbow's stripes whilst taking big, deep breaths. Use our template to create your own rainbow wall hanger, then whenever your child feels anxious or overwhelmed, they can trace the stripes to help them feel calm.

Empathy Activity Pack - Five activities - Empathy improves our capacity to communicate with others, help your child to improve their empathetic skills with these fun activity sheets. We think that empathy is a big part of being a superhero and helping others, so we've got a few superhero themed empathy resources for kids in this pack - use your child's favourite superhero to help them learn all about what empathy means and why it is after all, the most important super power.

Sunny Faces is a new summer themed doodling activity. We love a good doodle - doodling can lower stress and calm the mind. Here, have your child can draw faces on the suns - can they draw a different emotion each time? Or can they draw the different emotions summer brings? There are lots of fun ways to use this activity sheet!
